I am the proud owner of the first season of Angel. That means Doyle, and fun Cordelia, and personality!Angel. Most importantly, Wesley. Fun, cute, geeky yet compatant Wesley.

Awwwww, lucky you!! Season1 Wes is very, very cute. Of course, I also like later-season, scruffy, gritty Wesley (mostly because I'm a hopeless angst whore).

I love both Wesleys in equal amounts. Sometimes, I just really need a Wesley who is able to crack a smile and enjoy himself, or at least attempt to. Other times, I need a Wesley who will pull a gun from his desk and shoot someone in the leg without batting an eye.

And sometimes, I really enjoy Wesley the prissy dork. I admit when I first watched Buffy S3, I didn't like Wesley much except that he made Giles look even cooler than before. But after going through Angel, I saw S3 Wesley in a completely different light, and he's now very dear to me.

Wesley shooting the lawyer in the leg, though, was quite disconcerting. In a hot kind of way.

Oh, hell yes.

I didn't see the third season of Buffy until after my love for Wesley was in full swing. You can just see how much he's trying, and he really does get a bit of unwarrented crap from the others (he is a bit of a prat, though, so some of it is warrented). I love the bit where he comes back after Buffy breaks off from the Council, and she basically orders him to leave -- then he announces that he's not acting for the Council and he wants to help. Love the flash of guilt the others have.

Also have to love the flirting between Cordelia and Wesley.

Ah, when I first saw him in BtVS, I simply couldn't get what anyone would see in him other than the dorky comic relief character, but I came around rather quickly. About 30 seconds after his first appearance on Angel.

You are right that the Scoobies et al. were extremely hostile towards him from minute one, but he had this trying prissy vibe going, and the biggest stick up is arse ever. And of course he wanted to play strictly by the rules, something Giles had to give up very soon, too, and he had it a lot easier since he's been there, done that. ;)

But what I found endearing about pre-Angel Wesley is, that he's able to change. Kicking and screaming, but he does. And much more so later, over all seasons of Angel. And that's makes him, to me, such an interesting, fascinating character, aside from Alexis Denisof being a hot piece of man flesh.
